The Single is Back

The Single is back and it’s back better then ever. No more $1.99 CD’s or cassette in bins, the music is online in simple and easy to use format; digital. The new single format will turn the record industry into the entertainment industry through packaging. Labels/Entertainment companies will be able to package content with tickets, merchandise, beverages, and movies to name a few.

Consumers no longer need to buy an album if they want that cool jam they heard on the radio — and in growing numbers, they’re choosing 99-cent downloads over $15 CDs.

Artists created albums to fill the space on the LP. Now they no longer have to do that as we are back to a singles model. All these fans and artists who complain that they make art, that’s great but it doesn’t sell as well as singles.

The Single is a piece of content that you can do anything with. It’s like water, it goes with everything. Embrace this old/new format and you will see greater profits through thinking differently.
