Sell, Merge, Move

Sony BMG, the company that could never amount to anything or live up to the hype. That’s the story in a nut shell of a company that never amounted to anything and continues to fail on a daily basis. From Rolf Schmidt-Holtz checkmating Andy “I don’t understand the internet” Lack to Clive Davis and BMG going to war with Sony over Don Ienner. It was a mess and continues to be a mess.

Now Rob Stringer (new CEO of Sony Music Group) has been in there under a year and certain Senior Level BMG executives want him out are ready. The board needs to realize that the company is going nowhere and this same cycle is going to continue to happen until the following happens:

1. Sony buys out BMG’s 50% share; sells off/merges the labels to lower costs and pay off debt.

2. Not renewing the lease contract on the West Coast Office. The koi pond is great, but the overhead is too high.

3. Move the offices onto the lot in Studio City and merge the film and record label music departments.

4. Feature artists in all Sony/Columbia Picture Films. Imagine if a Sony artist appeared in Spider Man 3 or recorded the lead track? More records would sell!!!

5. Feature artists with your electronics and abandon the memory stick and other only Sony compatible products. Consumers want to consume content on all their devices, not just Sony ones.

With Sony’s vast resources there is no reason why they are not the most profitable and valuable record label. It just goes to show you want mismanagement and politics can due to a company. Grow up!! Listen to Sir Howard and create synergy among yourselves and departments. After all, you are all apart of the Sony Family.
