Is 2007 the year the Record Industry grows up?

Will 2007 be the year when label execs realize that they dropped the ball on digital? Look at the Film Industry, and ask them about the record business. They laugh and learn what not to do. DRM in it’s current form is dead and consumers are going to rebel once again as they have for the past eight years. When will you wake up and listen to the consumer? Your content is crap (for the most part) and your models are old and tired. Breakage is no more, coke binges died in the 80s, the Diva came and went in the 90s. What does the new millennium hold? Will you wake up and realize its 2007?

Digital is here to stay and it is becoming more and more apart of our daily lives. Take a listen to the Bill Gates key note from CES and you hear how digital content is becoming part of the household.

In order for the industry to get it right they should create a new format that allows the consumer to transfer their music and videos to multiple devices no matter the operating system or hardware device. Music is the soundtrack to your life and it is going to be consumed they way the consumer wants to, not the way the label wants you to.

Embrace, do not fear.
