In a move that came at no surprise; Activision Inc today unveiled a new “Guitar Hero” video game featuring Aerosmith. This is a smart move for Activision and their billion-dollar franchise as it will provide the company with a long term growth strategy while it paves the way for other bands to jump on board.
Labels and Managers are going to have to remember not to milk this to death and over-saturate the market with every band on their roster.
Next; Would Activision use online content delivery systems to supply updates in terms of new songs to the end users? Would bands have the ability upload their own music to the service and sell it?

Critics agree, There Will Be Blood! Paul Thomas Anderson’s epic masterpiece based on his loose adaptation of a 1927 Upton Sinclair novel, “Oil!”. In this movie Paul Thomas Anderson proves why he is truly one of the greatest directors of our generation.
The National Society of Film Critics on Saturday awarded There Will Be Blood, Best Picture, Best Actor for Daniel Day-Lewis and Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson.

If the awards keep pilling up the way they have been, there should be no competition for The Oscars. That is if The WGA will get their heads out of their asses and stop playing hardball with the AMPTP. You can only go so far with an ex-Union leader who does not know how to play politics.
Hopefully the WGA will bargain and cut an interim agreement with the The Academy of Motion Arts and Pictures and allow ABC to broadcast the event. It would be a shame to delay the event or have the actors picket because they are afraid to cross the picket line. Grow some balls and give America a glimpse of what they look forward to every year!

After almost a year of putting together the team it looks like Bob Ezrin is going to finally head up Live Nation Recordings according to a mention on page 20 of the Wedbush Morgan 2007 California Dreamin’ Conference Live Nation Presentation.
You can download the report here (PDF).
Rumor has it that the Live Nation Recordings office is going to based in Miami at Michael Cohl’s office. Michael serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Artist Nation and Chief Executive Officer of CPI. I also hear that they are fully staffed and up and running.
Press release anytime soon? This points to why Live Nation would sign Madonna to a deal that includes recording. Looks like another way for Live Nation to loose more money. For a company who’s stock is under preforming this is the last thing as an investor that I would want to see.
What do you think of Live Nation going into the recorded Music Business? Leave us a comment.
